How to cut an MP3 for TikTok, Reels or a ringtone (free, online)

Trim any song to the exact 15, 30 or 60 seconds you need, add a fade and save it as MP3 — in your browser, without uploading the file.

TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts all reward short clips, and most phones want a ringtone under 30 seconds. So sooner or later every artist needs to cut a song. Here is the fastest free way to do it, with no app and no upload.

Cut an MP3 in four steps

  1. Open the free Cut audio tool.
  2. Add your MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC file. It is opened by your own browser and never sent to a server.
  3. Drag on the waveform to select the part you want, or type the start and end. Press Play to check it.
  4. Add a short fade in and out, choose MP3 or WAV and press Download.

How long should the clip be?

WhereGood length
TikTok15–30 s for a hook, up to 60 s for a full idea
Instagram Reels15–30 s
YouTube Shortsup to 60 s
Ringtone (iPhone and Android)up to 30 s — use the “Ringtone (30 s)” button

Which part of the song to use

Start right before the hook or the drop, not at the intro. People decide in the first second whether to keep watching, so the clip should open with the strongest moment of the track.

Turn the clip into a video

A cut song is still just audio. Social networks need a video, so press Make a music video from your track under the tool: the clip opens in the PulSound studio, where it becomes an audio-reactive video in 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts in a couple of minutes.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark on the audio and no file size limit beyond your device’s memory, because everything happens in your browser.

Did not work?

Most problems come from the browser or the device, not from your file. The quick fix: use the latest Chrome or Edge on a computer and refresh the page with Ctrl + F5. For everything else — no sound, WebM instead of MP4, iPhone files, slow export, GPU templates showing bars — see If something doesn’t work.
