FAQ

Getting started

Is this really free?

Yes — right now, every feature on PulSound is free, with no account required for the studio itself. That may change in the future as the project grows, but nothing you use today will silently start costing money; any change like that would be announced clearly in advance.

Do I need an account?

No. The studio works fully without one. An account adds release pages and HyperFollow pages for your tracks.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser.

Which browsers work?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Safari and up-to-date Chrome/Edge record MP4 directly; others record WebM and convert it. Older browsers may not be able to record video at all.

Does it work on a phone?

The interface does, and the Web Share button after export is actually built for mobile. Exporting on a phone can be unreliable for long recordings, since mobile browsers throttle background work — a computer is more consistent for longer tracks.

Your files and privacy

Is my music uploaded to your servers?

No. Your audio is read and analysed by your own browser. Nothing about it reaches us. An unreleased track is as private here as it is on your hard drive.

So why can this be free?

Because your own computer does the rendering work — there's no server cost per video to cover.

What happens to tracks I upload to a release page?

Those are different: a release page stores the file, because the page has to play it to visitors. Delete a release at any time and the file goes with it.

Do you claim any rights to my music?

None. Your music stays yours, and so does every video you export.

Exporting

Why does the export take as long as the song?

The video is recorded as the audio plays, in real time — there's no server queue, but also no way to be faster than the track.

Can I close the tab while it exports?

No, and don't switch away from it either — browsers slow down drawing in hidden tabs, which shows up as dropped frames.

I asked for MP4 and got WebM. Why?

The in-browser conversion couldn't run. The WebM file still works fine for YouTube; for Instagram or TikTok, try an up-to-date Chrome, Edge or Safari.

Can I export just a section of the track?

Not yet — trim the audio before loading it if you only need a clip.

Templates, presets and settings

Nothing moves in the preview.

Check the track is playing and your system audio isn't muted.

The visuals move constantly and nothing stands out.

That's a heavily compressed master. Lower Sensitivity until the peaks read again.

Beat-triggered effects don't react.

Beat detection follows low-frequency energy. Tracks without a defined kick give it little to detect — try a spectrum-driven template instead.

My cover art looks cropped.

Non-square images are cropped to a square from the centre. Export a square version of your artwork.

What's the difference between a style preset and a template?

A template is the actual visual. A preset is a shortcut that picks a template and a matching set of colours and settings for you — you can always change anything a preset set afterwards.

Lyric video

How accurate is Tap Sync?

As accurate as your timing — it records the exact moment you press the button. For frame-perfect sync, listen back and nudge a line's timestamp by hand in the text field.

Can I use it without any timestamps at all?

Yes — lines are spread out evenly across the track as a rough approximation. It won't be precisely synced, but it's a usable starting point.

Effects

Can I combine several effects at once?

Yes — tick as many as you like. Rain and lightning together, for example, is a normal combination.

Do effects work with every template?

Yes, they layer on top of whichever template is selected.

Release pages and HyperFollow

What is a release page?

A page at pulsound.com/your-name/track-title with your artwork, a player, and links to Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.

What is a HyperFollow page?

A more customisable link page — choose from a dozen designs, set your own colours and font, and add links to every platform you're on, all behind one link you can put in a bio.

Can I see how many people visited?

Yes — view counts show in your dashboard next to each release and HyperFollow page.

Other

Which languages is PulSound available in?

English by default, with more added over time. Available languages appear in the switcher in the header.

I found a bug or want a template that doesn't exist.
